The adult dependant route allows a non-EEA adult dependent relative of a British citizen who resides at the UK or a person settled in the UK, to settle here if they are able to demonstrate that as a result of their age, illness or disability, they require long-term care to do every day personal and household tasks which include washing and dressing themselves.
The applicant must be unable, even with the practical or financial help of the sponsor, to obtain the level of care where they are living because it is not available and there is no person in that country who is in a position to reasonably provide it or because it is not affordable. In addition, the Entry Clearance Officer must also be satisfied that without the aid of public funds, the applicant will be adequately maintained, accommodated and cared for by the sponsor for at least 5 years.
In summary, the applicant must be able to prove that;
- They need long-term care to do every day personal and household tasks
- The care they need is not available or affordable in the country they currently live in
- The sponsor will be able to accommodate and care for the applicant without claiming public funds for at least 5 years
- They must be over 18 years of age
